The TFT training program was made with the intention of giving new players to DCS a way to learn the simulator and establish a good foothold in the DCS multiplayer scene. So, new joins need to be aware of this as we are not a casual group and take the sim seriously enough to develop our pilotage as much as we can. Joining TFT requires a fairly significant level of commitment to learning which can be comparable to most serious or milsim squadrons. All must progress through each check ride before moving on to the next phase though. You also do not need to be a member to join the training program as it is open to everyone. So, we have decided to develop our new pilots to the point where they can comfortably fly any mission we throw at them. Also, new joins do not fly in our main story driven or group campaigns as we have multiple trainings per week per phase and the fact that we teach pilots from scratch means that the complexity and difficulty we choose to build our missions with can be a bit much for newer sim pilots. This level of commitment to join a group is also not rare in the DCS community but there are a good mix of both serious and casual squadrons. The time commitment is mainly due to the time needed to develop awareness and hand eye coordination. Is TFT For me and how long does the training program last?ĭepending on your ability and availability it can take anywhere from a few months to a year to finish our training program. There are many great competitive teams in DCS, and I like to think that TFT has produced a great team too. The skills we develop produce a significant outcome when we fly in competitive matches and if we keep our discipline (which at times can be very difficult) we tend to best most opponents. In the competitive teams’ pilots will learn tactics and strategies which will turn them into some of the best pilots in the DCS multiplayer scene.

Joining a competitive team will require you being a full member and making a large commitment to developing your skill level, much larger than most members. We also have multiple competitive teams which represent the airwings of TFT and TFT overall. On top of this we have an organized structure meaning that if you wish to take part in growing the community, teaching new joins or running missions then you can as you only need to pursue the role which suits you best. Once in TFT though, you will be able to take part in complex and highly rewarding TFT missions and campaigns which will provide all the immersion you will ever need to satisfy your simulation needs. Our discord is not just for TFT members but is open to everyone. Besides our group only missions we also hold public events which you can join if you are not interested in joining. Task Force Trident is also a community of like-minded individuals who play DCS together, joining us will make you a part of that community. What will I get from joining Task Force Trident? Each rank will open more channels and once you are no longer a Cadet and become a full member you will choose a squadron to join and will get the roles needed to see its discord area. Once you pass the Phase 1 check ride you will get a member’s role and rank. So, joining is simple enough, just join our discord, introduce yourself and ask about our phase 1 If a new member feels as though they already know what they need to pass then they just ask for the check ride for that phase and move on to the next. By the time they are out of Phase 3b they should be skilled in all aspects of flying in the sim which will serve them well on all multiplayer servers and in our missions. We start them off in Phase 1 and then they move through the phases in order. How do I join Task Force Trident?Īll those who wish to join Task Force Trident will become a Cadet in our training program first and this is how membership is gained. To better help those wishing to join TFT decide if we are the group for them or not, I have written this post which answers some questions and explains our training program. Though there is nothing wrong with people having a more casual outlook on DCS, we recommend other groups with a similar outlook to them as we would not be a good match. This is usually because they prefer the more casual gamming style and were not aware of the level of commitment to learning we look for in TFT.

Most new joins understand what TFT is all about but occasionally we get some that don’t. Often, we get questions about TFT and our training program from new joins.
